How to choose a solar company in Hyderabad

Published 16 Oct 2026 · Updated 16 Oct 2026

What to check before you hire a rooftop solar company in Hyderabad: quotations, panels, warranties, net metering, subsidy rules and after-sales.

Most rooftop solar systems in Hyderabad will run for 25 years, so the company you choose matters long after installation day. This guide lists what to check, where you can check it yourself, and the questions worth asking before you sign anything. It doesn't rank companies. Online rankings are rarely based on anything you can verify. A checklist you apply yourself is more useful.

What a solar company should do for you

A complete rooftop installation in Hyderabad usually includes:

  • a site visit to check the roof, shading and your electricity connection
  • a system design sized to your actual electricity use
  • supply of panels, inverter, mounting structure and cabling
  • installation and safety work: earthing, lightning protection and roof sealing
  • the DISCOM paperwork with TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL (depending on where you live): feasibility approval, inspection and the net meter
  • after-sales service and maintenance

Ask any company which of these are included in the price, and get the answer in writing.

Eight things to check

1. A written quotation after a site visit

A fair price depends on your roof and your connection, so be wary of a firm price over the phone. The quotation should list the panel brand and model, the inverter brand and model, the system size in kW, the mounting structure, and what's included.

2. The equipment, by model number

"Tier-1 panels" means little on its own. Ask for the exact panel and inverter models, then look them up. If you want the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, the scheme sets its own rules on which panels qualify. Check the current panel requirements on the official PM Surya Ghar portal before you agree on a model.

3. Warranties, separately and in writing

There are usually four:

  • product warranty on the panels
  • performance warranty on the panels
  • inverter warranty
  • workmanship warranty on the installation itself

Ask who you call to make a claim, and what the company handles versus the manufacturer.

4. Who handles the DISCOM paperwork

Net metering lets your system send surplus power to the grid and offset your bill. It needs a DISCOM application, an inspection and a bidirectional meter. Ask whether the company handles this end to end, and whether it's included in the price.

5. The subsidy: ask whether the company is a registered vendor

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana subsidy is paid only when the system is installed by a vendor registered with your DISCOM on the National Portal. Helping you fill in forms is not the same as being a registered vendor. If the subsidy matters to your decision, ask each company directly: "Are you registered as a PM Surya Ghar vendor with my DISCOM?" Then check the vendor list on the portal yourself.

The subsidy is credited to your own bank account after installation, inspection and net metering are complete. No company can guarantee your eligibility or approval; the scheme decides that.

6. A local office and named people

After installation you'll need someone to call. Visit the office if you can, and ask who your contact will be once the system is switched on.

7. Reviews you can read

Look at the company's Google reviews: how many there are, how recent, and whether the company replies. A handful of very recent five-star reviews tells you less than a long history.

8. A written maintenance plan

Panels in Hyderabad collect dust, especially before the monsoon. Ask what a maintenance visit includes, how often it happens, what it costs, and how quickly the company responds to a fault.

Red flags

  • "Subsidy guaranteed", or a price with the subsidy already taken off before you've been approved
  • A firm quotation without a site visit
  • Panel or inverter brands named without model numbers
  • No written warranty terms
  • No physical address
  • Pressure to sign, or to pay in full before installation

Questions to ask on the first call

  1. Will you visit the site before quoting?
  2. Which exact panel and inverter models will you use?
  3. What are the product, performance, inverter and workmanship warranties, in writing?
  4. Do you handle DISCOM feasibility, inspection and net metering, and is that in the price?
  5. Are you a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor with my DISCOM?
  6. What does maintenance include, how often, and how fast do you respond to faults?

How Origian Power compares

So you can apply this checklist to us too, here are our answers:

  • Site visit before quoting: yes. The process starts with a meeting and a site visit.
  • Written quotation: yes. Prices are shown before any subsidy.
  • Warranties: 10-year product and 25-year performance warranty on panels; inverter 5–10 years depending on brand; 5-year workmanship warranty on our installation.
  • DISCOM paperwork: we handle feasibility, inspection coordination and the net-metering application as part of the installation.
  • PM Surya Ghar registered vendor: no. Origian Power is not a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor, so a system we install does not qualify for that subsidy. We say this before we quote.
  • Local offices: two in Hyderabad, Hitech City (head office) and Nizampet.
  • Track record: operating since 2020; 300+ installations; over 2,000 kW commissioned.
  • Maintenance: scheduled visits every 3 months; 48-hour response to reported issues.
  • Typical timeline: 10 to 15 days from confirmation to switch-on.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a solar company in Hyderabad? To choose a solar company in Hyderabad, get a written quotation after a site visit, then check the exact panel and inverter models, separate written warranties, who handles TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL net metering, whether the company is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor, its local office, its Google reviews and a written maintenance plan.

Which is the best solar company in Hyderabad? No online ranking is reliable unless you can verify it. The best solar company in Hyderabad for you is one that passes this checklist in writing: a site visit, exact equipment models, written warranties, net metering handled, an honest subsidy status, a local office and a maintenance plan. Apply it to every company, including us.

Can any solar company in Hyderabad get me the PM Surya Ghar subsidy? No. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is paid only when a vendor registered on the National Portal with your DISCOM, TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL, installs the system. Ask each company, then check the portal's vendor list. Origian Power is not a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor, so systems we install do not qualify.

How much does rooftop solar cost in Hyderabad? Origian's gross rooftop solar prices are ₹1,10,000 to ₹1,30,000 for 1 kW, ₹2,30,000 to ₹2,60,000 for 3 kW, ₹3,50,000 to ₹3,90,000 for 5 kW and ₹6,10,000 to ₹6,40,000 for 10 kW, before any subsidy. The final price follows a site visit, because roof type, structure height and cable runs vary.

Is the cheapest solar quote the best value? Not necessarily. Compare solar quotes side by side on the exact panel and inverter models, system size, mounting structure and wind rating, earthing and surge protection, warranties, and whether net metering and maintenance are included. A much cheaper quote usually differs somewhere on that list, so find out where before you sign.

How long does rooftop solar installation take in Hyderabad? It varies by company and by DISCOM approval times. At Origian, the process typically takes 10 to 15 days from confirmation to switch-on, covering the site visit, documentation, installation, TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL approval, net metering and synchronisation. Ask any company you are considering for a written timeline.
