PM-KUSUM solar pump subsidy calculator
The central and state share on a solar agricultural pump, and what is left for you to pay.
Your details
Component B is a standalone pump. Component C solarises a pump already on the grid.
Standalone pumps under the scheme go up to 7.5 HP.

- Solar array
- 7.46 kW
- Pumping supported
- 9 – 10 hours / day
- Daily generation
- 32 – 37 units
- Project cost
- ₹2.3L – ₹3L
30% of the project cost, on the benchmark basis.
30% indicative. Confirmed by the nodal agency.
Sized for a 5 HP pump.
On an average day across the year. More in summer, less in monsoon.
What the array produces on an average day.
The total before any subsidy is applied.
The subsidy split is indicative.
Central and state subsidy shares under PM-KUSUM are set by scheme guidelines and state orders that change. The share shown here is indicative. Your sanctioned amount is confirmed by NREDCAP when your application is processed.
This is an estimate, not a quote.

Get the number we stand behind
Origian Power stands behind the number our engineer gives you after a free site visit — not the number above.
- The state share, which the nodal agency sets and confirms at sanction
- Your borewell depth and discharge, which decide the pump you actually need
- Whether your land and connection qualify under Component B or C
Why the state share is shown as indicative
The central share under PM-KUSUM follows published scheme guidelines. The state share does not: it is set by state orders that are revised, and the figure this calculator uses for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has not yet been confirmed against NREDCAP and TGREDCO.
We could have shown it without comment and no visitor would have known. But the farmer’s own share is the number that comes out of their pocket, and presenting an unconfirmed split as settled is exactly the kind of thing that turns into a difficult conversation at sanction. The nodal agency confirms the real amount when your application is processed.
If you are replacing a diesel pump, the diesel comparison puts this alongside the fuel you would stop buying.
Questions about this estimate
What is the difference between Component B and Component C?
Component B is a standalone solar pump for land with no grid connection. Component C solarises a pump that is already connected, so you keep the grid as backup and can feed surplus generation back. Which one applies is decided by your existing connection, not by preference.
How much will I actually pay?
Your share is the project cost less the central and state subsidies. The central share follows scheme guidelines. The state share is set by state orders that change, so the figure here is indicative and the nodal agency confirms your sanctioned amount when the application is processed.
How many hours a day will a solar pump run?
It depends on the array size and the season, which is why the calculator gives a range rather than a figure. Summer days support noticeably more pumping than monsoon ones, and a pump sized for the average will fall short on the worst days and have surplus on the best.
Can I get a pump larger than 7.5 HP?
Standalone pumps under the scheme are generally capped at 7.5 HP. Larger requirements are usually handled through Component C on an existing connection, or outside the scheme entirely. We can tell you which route fits once we know your borewell.
