PM Surya Ghar subsidy calculator
Work out the central subsidy for your system size, and what the system costs once it is applied.
Your details
Most homes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh land between 2 kW and 5 kW. Each panel is roughly 8ft x 4ft, and about 6 panels make up a 3 kW system.
Printed on your electricity bill, usually near the meter number.

What a system this size would produce in an average month.
This is an estimate, not a quote.
This is an estimated range based on average conditions in your area. Your actual numbers depend on site-specific factors we verify before quoting.

Get the number we stand behind
Origian Power stands behind the number our engineer gives you after a free site visit — not the number above.
- Your connection category, which is what eligibility turns on
- Whether the electricity bill is in your name
- Your DISCOM's sanctioned load, which caps what you may install
Why the subsidy is shown as an exact figure
Almost every number on this site is a range, because it depends on conditions nobody can see from a web form. The subsidy is different: it is set by scheme rules against your system size and connection type, so it is arithmetic rather than an estimate.
The cost around it is still a range, and appears as one. What you actually pay depends on equipment and site conditions in the ordinary way. Read the scheme itself on the subsidy page, or size a system against your bill with the savings calculator.
Questions about this estimate
Who is eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
Residential consumers with a domestic electricity connection, installing a grid-connected rooftop system with net metering. Commercial, industrial and agricultural connections are not eligible for this particular subsidy, though they have other routes to a return.
When is the money actually paid?
After the system is installed, net-metered and inspected. You pay the installer in full first, and the subsidy is reimbursed to your bank account by direct transfer once the DISCOM has signed off.
Why does the subsidy stop increasing with system size?
The scheme caps it. Beyond the cap, every additional kilowatt is paid for in full, which is why the subsidy covers a smaller share of a large system than a small one. The calculator shows that share falling as you move the slider.
Does Origian Power handle the application?
Yes. We prepare and submit the application, and specify the system so it satisfies the technical requirements approval depends on. Getting the specification right at design stage is what prevents a rejection later.
Is a bigger solar system always more cost-effective under this scheme?
No — past the 3 kW cap, every additional kilowatt is funded at full price with no extra subsidy, so cost-effectiveness above that point depends entirely on how much of the extra generation your own consumption actually uses. Sliding the size up here shows exactly where that subsidy share starts falling, which is a more useful comparison than assuming larger is automatically the better deal.
