Solar panel installation in Hyderabad

Origian Power is a solar company in Hyderabad, with a head office in Hitech City and a second office in Nizampet. It designs, supplies and installs rooftop solar for homes and businesses across the city.

A solar company in Hyderabad with two local offices

Origian Power runs two offices in Hyderabad. The head office is at 3rd Floor, Lakeview Co-Working, InOrbit Mall Road, Hitech City, Hyderabad – 500081. The second office is at Flat B-106, Adithya Wizz Lagoon, Nizampet, Hyderabad – 500090. Both keep the same hours: 7am to 8pm from Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.

Origian Power has been operating since 2020. Across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh it has completed more than 300 installations and commissioned over 2,000 kW of solar capacity. Those totals cover the company’s whole service area, not Hyderabad alone.

The company is a team of nine: two managing partners, two heads of sales, one head technician, two people on documentation and finance, and two office staff. If you visit either office, bring a recent electricity bill. Every conversation about sizing starts from it.

Origian’s completed projects so far are recorded elsewhere in its service area. It does not yet have a confirmed installation record tied to a Hyderabad locality, and this page will list Hyderabad projects once those records exist. The anonymised history of what Origian has built is on the projects page.

What a solar company in Hyderabad should handle for you

A rooftop system involves more than panels. Someone has to size it to your roof and your bill, and buy the equipment. Then it has to be mounted and wired, the paperwork filed with your electricity distribution company, and the system switched on once approval comes through. Origian Power works as an EPC contractor, meaning engineering, procurement and construction under one contract. One company answers for every stage.

In Hyderabad, the grid connection runs through TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL, whichever supplies your property. A system that sends power into the grid needs a net-metering application and DISCOM approval before it can be synchronised. Origian handles that application and the coordination with the DISCOM from start to finish. You do not need to visit a DISCOM office or fill in the forms yourself, and the work is included in the quoted price.

Before you sign with any installer, ask four questions. Who files the net-metering application? Is that work inside the quotation or billed later? Which panel and inverter brands will be fitted, by name? Which warranty covers the installation work itself, as distinct from the equipment? Origian’s answers are all on this page. It files the application, and the cost sits inside the quote. The brands are listed below, and its own workmanship carries a five-year warranty.

What Origian cannot control is the DISCOM’s own timetable. Approval and synchronisation depend on the distribution company, and that can move the date your system is switched on.

Approximate solar system price in Hyderabad

Origian’s gross price for a rooftop system runs from ₹1,10,000 for 1 kW to ₹6,40,000 for 10 kW; a typical 3 kW home system is ₹2,30,000 – ₹2,60,000. These prices are before any government subsidy, and whether a particular system qualifies for one depends on the scheme’s own rules and your DISCOM. Your exact price depends on your roof and the equipment you choose, and is confirmed in a written quotation after a free site survey.

See price per kW and expected units for every size in our solar system price guide, or what’s actually inside an Origian installation.

Solar panel price in Hyderabad: what the quotation covers

The bands above are Origian’s company-wide gross prices, the same on every one of its city pages. They are prices before any government subsidy. Origian’s net-metering application and its coordination with the DISCOM are included in the quoted price, not added later as a separate fee.

Two systems of the same size can still be priced differently. A site survey measures what moves a quotation within its band. That means the type of roof and whether the frame has to be raised. It also means how far the cables run from the panels to the inverter and on to the meter, and which panel and inverter brands you choose. A long cable run or a raised structure costs more than a short run on an open, flat roof.

That is why Origian fixes the final figure only in a written quotation after a free site survey. If a quotation reaches you before anyone has seen your roof, ask what it assumes about cable length and structure height. Those two assumptions explain most of the gap between an early estimate and the final bill.

For the price per kW and the expected monthly units at every size from 1 kW to 10 kW, see the solar system price guide.

If you would rather not pay the full amount at once, a loan fits into Origian’s process. Step five below is either the advance payment or loan processing, so the order of work stays the same when you finance. Before you speak to a lender, the solar EMI calculator estimates a monthly instalment from your electricity bill, the loan period, your down payment and the interest rate the lender quotes.

Whether a system qualifies for a central subsidy depends on the scheme’s own rules and on your DISCOM. Origian shows its prices before any subsidy, so the number you compare is the number on your quotation.

Sizing a rooftop system for a Hyderabad home

Start with your electricity bill, not your roof. The bill shows the units you used in the billing period, and one unit is one kilowatt-hour. Look at several months, because a summer month with air-conditioning can be far higher than a winter one. An average across the year gives a fair target.

Origian’s own measurements give a useful rule of thumb. Its installed systems in the Anantapur region connect through APSPDCL. There, a 3 kW system averages about 400 units a month and a 5 kW system about 650. Across a year, each kilowatt there produces roughly 1,550 to 1,600 units. These are Anantapur-region measurements, not Hyderabad readings, so treat them as a starting estimate for a home here.

As a worked example, a household averaging 400 units a month would start the conversation near 3 kW, and one averaging 650 units near 5 kW. The survey then checks whether the roof can carry that size without shade from water tanks, parapet walls or neighbouring buildings.

Larger homes scale the same way. At 1,550 to 1,600 units per kilowatt a year, an 8 kW system would produce roughly 1,030 to 1,070 units a month, again using the Anantapur-region figure. Roof space then becomes the limit. Origian’s roof-area guidance puts standard modules at roughly 80 to 100 square feet per kilowatt, so 8 kW needs somewhere between 640 and 800 square feet of usable, unshaded roof.

Two calculators help before the survey. The rooftop savings calculator takes your monthly bill or units, asks for your nearest city, and adjusts its generation estimate for it. The roof-area calculator works the other way, from the space you have to the capacity it can hold.

Use their results to frame the conversation, then let the site survey settle the size. A roof that takes 5 kW on paper may take less once shade and access are measured.

Solar panel installation in Hyderabad, step by step

Origian follows the same nine steps for every rooftop system. From a confirmed order to switch-on typically takes 10 to 15 days. DISCOM approval sits outside Origian’s control and can extend that.

  1. First meeting

Origian explains how a rooftop system works, what net metering means for your bill, and what happens next. Bring a recent electricity bill.

  2. Site visit

A visit to the property to look at the roof, where shade falls during the day, and where the inverter and cables can run.

  3. Quotation

A written quotation for the size and equipment the survey supports. This is where the final price is fixed.

  4. Document collection

Once you decide to go ahead, Origian collects the documents the DISCOM application needs.

  5. Advance payment or loan processing

You pay the advance, or the loan is processed if you are financing the system.

  6. Installation

The structure is fixed, the panels are mounted, and the inverter, protection boxes and earthing are wired in.

  7. DISCOM documentation and approval

Origian files the net-metering application with TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL and follows it through to approval.

  8. Synchronisation

After approval, the net meter is fitted and the system is synchronised with the grid.

  9. Switch-on

The system is switched on and handed over, and the units it sends to the grid start appearing on your bill.

Steps one to six are Origian’s work from start to finish. Steps seven and eight also depend on the DISCOM, which is why ten to fifteen days is the typical time rather than a guarantee.

How the system is built to last

Origian rates a typical system’s lifespan at 25 years or more. Whether a system gets there depends largely on hardware nobody looks at once the panels are up.

The mounting structure is hot-dip galvanised steel, held together with stainless steel bolts so the joints do not rust in place. On flat roofs the frame is raised and set at a tilt of 10 to 15 degrees. The structure is rated to 150 km/h wind. Every fixing carries two square washers and one spring washer, which stops bolts from working loose as the frame flexes in wind.

Lightning protection has an earth pit of its own, kept separate from the equipment earthing. The equipment earthing uses 80 metres of 6 sq mm copper cable, bonding every frame, every enclosure and the inverter. Surge protection devices sit on both sides of the inverter. On the DC side they sit between the panels and the inverter; on the AC side, between the inverter and your distribution board. They divert voltage spikes from a nearby strike or a grid surge before the spike reaches the inverter. The DC and AC distribution boxes are Siemens or Finder units with a 25A MCCB.

Every anchor point and roof penetration is sealed with bonding and sealant agents. A bolt hole that lets water in during the first monsoon can damage a roof slab long before anyone sees a stain. Cables run inside UPVC conduit, which keeps sun, rain and rodents off the insulation.

On the electrical side, every DC connection uses a Stäubli-grade MC4 connector, and every MCB connection uses a pin-type lug instead of bare wire. The cable is Polycab or equivalent, sized for its job: 4 sq mm for DC, 4 sq mm two-core for AC, and 6 sq mm copper for earth. Every cable end is sealed with heat-shrink tubing.

Panels, inverters and warranties

Origian fits panels from four manufacturers: Renewsys, Adani, Waaree and Tata. Inverters come from Growatt, Solis and Goodwe. Ask for the brand and model in writing on your quotation, so you can read the datasheet before you sign.

Four warranties apply, and each covers something different:

  • Panels, product warranty: 10 years.
  • Panels, performance warranty: 25 years.
  • Inverter: typically 5 to 10 years, depending on the brand you choose.
  • Workmanship: 5 years on Origian’s own installation work.

Read the performance warranty closely. It concerns how much power the panels still produce in later years, and the panel maker’s datasheet sets its exact terms.

The workmanship warranty matters most in the early years. Loose fixings, a leaking roof penetration or a badly crimped connector usually show up within the first few monsoons, and that is the work the five years cover.

If something goes wrong, there is no claim form to fill in. You call Origian, and a technician visits to check the system and put the fault right.

Commercial rooftop solar in Hyderabad

Origian’s customers are a mix of homes and businesses, and on the commercial side that includes hospitals and small businesses. Its recorded hospital systems range from 17 kW to 38 kW. Those projects are elsewhere in its service area; none of them is a Hyderabad installation.

For a business, the sums work differently from a home. A premises that operates in daylight uses solar power as it is generated, and commercial connections usually pay more per unit than domestic ones. A commercial survey looks at the sanctioned load, the usable roof or shed area, and the hours when the premises draws most of its power.

Three calculators help a business prepare for that meeting. The commercial capacity calculator estimates the system size a roof or shed can hold. The commercial solar ROI calculator estimates payback for a commercial connection. The solar accelerated depreciation calculator shows how depreciation on a business-owned system can change the numbers. Confirm the tax treatment with your accountant.

After installation: maintenance and service

Panels need cleaning, and the electrical side needs periodic checks. Under an annual maintenance contract, Origian schedules a visit every three months. If you report a problem between visits, Origian commits to respond within 48 hours.

Between visits, two habits catch most problems early. Compare the units exported on each bill with the same month last year, and glance at the inverter display for error codes. A sudden drop in exported units with no change in the weather is worth a call.

Details of the maintenance contract are on the annual maintenance page.
