What a solar system costs, from 1 kW to 10 kW

Gross prices for Origian rooftop systems from 1 kW to 10 kW, before any government subsidy. Your final quotation follows a free site survey of your roof.

Compare solar system prices

In brief

  • A rooftop solar system from Origian costs ₹1,10,000 for 1 kW up to ₹6,40,000 for 10 kW.
  • These are gross prices, before any government subsidy.
  • The price per kW falls as the system gets bigger.

10 kW₹6,10,000 – ₹6,40,000₹61,000 – ₹64,000about 1,313 (estimated)

Measured: monthly averages from Origian’s own systems in the Anantapur region. Estimated: calculated from that same yield. Real output varies with location, shading, roof orientation, weather and system design.

Find the right system size

1 kW solar system price

₹1,10,000 – ₹1,30,000 gross, or ₹1,10,000 – ₹1,30,000 per kW. Expect about 131 units a month (estimated), so it suits a home using roughly that much.

Small electricity needs: a modest home or a single-floor house with low daytime use.

2 kW solar system price

₹1,70,000 – ₹1,90,000 gross, or ₹85,000 – ₹95,000 per kW. Expect about 263 units a month (estimated), so it suits a home using roughly that much.

Lower household demand: a small family home with a fan-and-lights load and one or two heavier appliances.

3 kW solar system price

₹2,30,000 – ₹2,60,000 gross, or ₹76,000 – ₹87,000 per kW. Expect about 400 units a month (measured), so it suits a home using roughly that much.

Typical household use: the size most homes start from once an air conditioner or a water pump is in regular use.

5 kW solar system price

₹3,50,000 – ₹3,90,000 gross, or ₹70,000 – ₹78,000 per kW. Expect about 650 units a month (measured), so it suits a home using roughly that much.

Higher household demand: larger homes, or homes running more than one air conditioner through summer.

10 kW solar system price

₹6,10,000 – ₹6,40,000 gross, or ₹61,000 – ₹64,000 per kW. Expect about 1,313 units a month (estimated), so it suits a home using roughly that much.

Large homes or high-demand properties with a suitable, unshaded roof area to match.

The right size depends on your actual consumption and on how much usable roof you have, and is confirmed at the site survey rather than picked from this list. To size against your own bill, try the solar vs your bill calculator.

What affects the final cost?

  • Roof structure: an RCC slab, a sheet roof and a tiled roof need different mounting.
  • Installation height: an elevated structure costs more than one fixed close to the slab.
  • Panel and inverter choice: the brand and type you choose moves the price within each range.
  • Cable run length: the distance from the array to your meter and distribution board.

Understand PM Surya Ghar eligibility

PM Surya Ghar is a central government scheme for residential rooftop solar. The amounts the scheme sets are:

  • 1 kW: ₹30,000
  • 2 kW: ₹60,000
  • 3 kW & above: ₹78,000

Whether a particular installation qualifies, and when the money is paid, depend on the scheme’s own requirements and process and on your DISCOM. That is why the prices on this page are shown before any subsidy. Read the full PM Surya Ghar subsidy guide for eligibility and how applications work.

Solar price questions, answered

Does this price include the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

No. Every price on this page is the gross price for the system, before any government subsidy. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is a government scheme with its own eligibility requirements and its own application and disbursement process, so it is explained separately rather than taken off these figures.

What is included in the price?

The panels, the inverter, the mounting structure, wiring, earthing and protection hardware, and installation on your roof. The final quotation after a site survey lists exactly what your system includes for your roof.

Will my system generate the units shown here?

Not necessarily. The 3 kW and 5 kW figures are monthly averages measured on Origian systems in the Anantapur region; the other sizes are estimated from the same yield. Real output varies with location, shading, roof orientation, weather and system design, and Telangana output has not yet been measured on an Origian system.

Is this the final price?

No. These are ranges. The final price depends on your roof, the structure height, the panel and inverter you choose and the cable runs on your site, and is set in a written quotation after a free site survey.
