PM Surya Ghar subsidy status check: how to track your application, stage by stage
Published 23 Oct 2026 · Updated 23 Oct 2026
How to check your PM Surya Ghar application and subsidy status online, what each stage means, why applications get stuck, and what to do next.
You applied for the PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar subsidy, the panels may already be on your roof, and now you want to know one thing: where is my subsidy? This guide explains how to check your PM Surya Ghar application and subsidy status, what each stage means, why applications get stuck, and what you can do at each point.
A note before we start: the official portal is the only authoritative source for your application. Screens and labels change from time to time, so if anything here differs from what the portal shows, follow the portal. And for transparency, Origian Power is not a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor, so systems we install do not qualify for this subsidy. We wrote this guide because homeowners across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ask us how the tracking works.
How to check your PM Surya Ghar status online
The process is similar for most applicants:
- Go to the official National Portal, pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Use only the official government portal. Many look-alike websites rank for "PM Surya Ghar status", and some ask for personal details they don't need.
- Choose the consumer or applicant login. You log in with the mobile number you registered with.
- Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to that mobile number. There is no separate password, so the registered number must be active and with you.
- Open your application dashboard. It shows your application, its current stage and any remarks from the DISCOM or the implementing agency.
- Read the remarks carefully. If the status says something is returned or needs action, the remarks usually explain what is missing.
Keep these details handy: your electricity consumer number (as printed on your bill), your DISCOM's name, and the mobile number you registered with.
The stages of a PM Surya Ghar application
Applications move through a sequence of stages. The exact labels on the portal may differ slightly, but the journey is broadly the same:
1. Registration
You register on the portal with your state, your DISCOM, your electricity consumer number and your mobile number. This creates your application.
2. Application and feasibility
You apply for rooftop solar, and your DISCOM checks technical feasibility: whether your connection and the local network can take a rooftop system of the size you applied for. Your DISCOM is the one that approves this stage. In Telangana that is TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL; in Andhra Pradesh, APSPDCL, APEPDCL or APCPDCL.
3. Vendor selection
You choose a vendor registered with your DISCOM on the portal. This step matters more than any other for the subsidy: the subsidy is paid only for systems installed by a registered vendor. Check the vendor list on the portal yourself.
4. Installation
The registered vendor installs the system. Details of the installation, including the equipment used, are recorded for the next steps.
5. Inspection and net metering
The DISCOM inspects the installation and installs a bidirectional net meter, which records the units you import from and export to the grid. Our article on being a prosumer with net metering explains how this works on your bill.
6. Commissioning
Once inspection and net metering are complete, the system is commissioned, and the commissioning details are recorded on the portal.
7. Subsidy request and bank details
You submit your bank details and any required documents through the portal so that the subsidy can be paid. The subsidy is credited to your own bank account after the system has been installed, inspected and commissioned.
8. Subsidy credited
The final stage shows the subsidy as released or credited. For residential rooftop systems, the subsidy amounts under the scheme are ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above, capped at the 3 kW level. Check current amounts on the portal.
What your status means, and what to do
"Registered" or "Application submitted"
Your application exists but has not moved further. If it has been a long time, log in and check whether anything is pending from your side, such as the feasibility application.
"Feasibility pending"
Your DISCOM is checking whether your connection can take the system. This is the DISCOM's step. If it stays pending for a long time, contact your DISCOM's local office or the nodal officer for the scheme.
"Feasibility approved"
You can now choose a registered vendor and proceed with installation. Make sure your quotation states the full price and that the vendor is registered with your DISCOM.
"Installation pending"
Waiting on the vendor. Ask your vendor for a date and confirm they have uploaded what the portal needs.
"Inspection pending" or "Commissioning pending"
The system is installed and waiting for the DISCOM's inspection and net meter. Ask your vendor and DISCOM about the inspection date.
"Returned", "Rejected" or "Action required"
Something is missing or does not match. Read the remarks: common reasons are an unclear document, a name mismatch, or missing installation details. Correct and re-upload as instructed, or ask your vendor if the issue is on their side.
"Subsidy pending" or "Bank details pending"
Check that your bank details are submitted, that the account is in the applicant's name, and that the details exactly match your other records.
"Subsidy released" or "Credited"
The subsidy has been paid. Check your bank account; if it does not appear, compare the account number shown on the portal with your own.
Why PM Surya Ghar applications get stuck
From the questions homeowners bring to us, the same problems come up again and again:
- Name mismatches. The name on the electricity bill, the bank account and the applicant's ID do not match. For example, the connection is still in a parent's or previous owner's name.
- Wrong or inactive mobile number. The OTP cannot reach the applicant.
- A non-registered installer. The system was installed by a company that is not a registered vendor with the DISCOM. This cannot be fixed later: the subsidy is not payable.
- Incomplete installation records. Details the vendor needed to upload are missing.
- Inspection delays. The DISCOM's inspection and net meter installation take longer than expected.
- Bank account issues. The account is closed, not in the applicant's name, or the details were entered incorrectly.
- Ineligible configuration. For example, an off-grid system with no grid connection.
How long does the PM Surya Ghar subsidy take?
There is no single national timeline that applies to every application. Each stage depends on different people: your DISCOM for feasibility, inspection and net metering; your vendor for installation and records; and the implementing agencies for the final payment. Delays at any one stage push the rest back.
What is clear from the scheme's published process is that the subsidy is paid after installation, inspection and commissioning, not in advance. MNRE's October 2025 release mechanism for the utility-led aggregation model, for example, provides for payment only after physical verification and commissioning. Plan your finances for the full system cost first. Our solar loan guide explains the options.
Where to get help if your application is stuck
If your status has not moved for a long time:
- Read the remarks on your dashboard first. Many delays are a missing or unclear document.
- Ask your registered vendor. Installation records and several uploads are their responsibility.
- Contact your DISCOM's local office or the scheme's nodal officer for feasibility, inspection and net metering delays.
- Use the grievance and helpline options listed on the official portal.
- Keep records: screenshots of your status, dates of each step, and copies of everything you uploaded.
Avoid paying anyone who promises to "speed up" a subsidy for a fee. The official process has no such service.
Protect yourself from fake portals
Because "PM Surya Ghar status" is searched so often, look-alike sites appear in search results. To stay safe:
- check that the address is the official government portal before you log in;
- never share your OTP with anyone who calls you about your application;
- do not pay "registration" or "processing" fees to third parties;
- be wary of anyone who guarantees a subsidy amount or date.
If your PM Surya Ghar deadline is close
The scheme's current implementation period runs through 31 March 2027. If you have not yet applied, or your application is stuck at an early stage, read our guide on what to do before the March 2027 deadline, and start early enough to leave time for every stage above.
Where Origian fits
Origian Power is not a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor, so a system we install does not qualify for the subsidy. We say this before quoting, and we always quote the full price. We can explain the consumer-side steps of the process to homeowners who ask, but the subsidy itself is applied for and paid through the official portal and a registered vendor.
Where we can help is everything outside the subsidy: commercial and institutional rooftop systems (which the residential subsidy does not cover), larger home systems, hybrid systems with battery backup, and homes that have decided the subsidy route is not for them and want a well-built system at a clear full price. A quick checklist for tracking your PM Surya Ghar application
- Bookmark the official portal and log in only there.
- Keep your consumer number, DISCOM name and registered mobile number together.
- Check your status after each step: feasibility, installation, inspection, commissioning, bank details.
- Read every remark and act on it quickly.
- Keep copies and screenshots of everything.
- Confirm your vendor is registered with your DISCOM before installation, not after.

Documents to keep ready at each stage
Most delays come from documents, so it helps to have everything ready before you start:
- At registration: your latest electricity bill (for the consumer number and DISCOM), and the mobile number you will use for every login.
- At application: proof that you own the property or have the right to install on its roof, and identity documents as the portal asks.
- At installation: the vendor's details and the installation records the vendor uploads. Ask your vendor to confirm once these are on the portal.
- At commissioning: the commissioning details recorded after the DISCOM's inspection and net meter installation.
- For the subsidy: bank details for an account in the applicant's name, typically a cancelled cheque or passbook copy if the portal asks for one.
If the electricity connection is still in a parent's or previous owner's name, sort out the name transfer with your DISCOM before you apply. That one change prevents the most common mismatch.
Checking status on behalf of a parent or relative
Many applications are tracked by a family member rather than the applicant. That works, but remember that the OTP goes to the registered mobile number. If that phone belongs to an elderly parent, agree when you will log in together, and never share the OTP with anyone who calls claiming to be from the scheme. If the registered number has changed, ask your DISCOM or check the portal's help options for how to update it.
What changes on your bill after commissioning
Once the system is commissioned and the net meter is installed, your electricity bill starts showing two readings: units imported from the grid and units exported to it. The bill settles the two under your DISCOM's net metering rules. This is separate from the subsidy. Your savings on the bill begin from switch-on, whether or not the subsidy has been credited yet. Our guide to import and export units explains how to read the new bill, and our article on how many units a solar system generates shows what to expect each month.
When the subsidy isn't the right route
Some homeowners discover partway through that the subsidy route doesn't suit them. The registered vendors near them may be booked up, their roof may need a larger system than the subsidy covers, or they may want a hybrid system with backup. Rooftop solar can still make sense without the subsidy: a 3 kW system in our region produces about 400 units a month, worth roughly ₹3,200 a month at ₹8 per unit. Compare both routes on full cost, quality and timeline before deciding.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check my PM Surya Ghar subsidy status? Log in to the official PM Surya Ghar National Portal at pmsuryaghar.gov.in using the mobile number you registered with and the one-time password sent to it. Your dashboard shows the current stage of your rooftop solar application and any remarks from your DISCOM. Use only the official portal, not look-alike websites.
What are the stages of a PM Surya Ghar application? A PM Surya Ghar application broadly moves through registration, DISCOM feasibility approval, choosing a registered vendor, installation, DISCOM inspection and net metering, commissioning, submitting bank details, and finally the subsidy being credited. Portal labels may differ slightly, so follow what your dashboard shows and read any remarks at each stage.
How long does the PM Surya Ghar subsidy take to come? There is no single national timeline for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. It is paid after installation, inspection and commissioning, and each stage depends on your DISCOM, your registered vendor and the implementing agencies. Delays at feasibility or inspection push everything back, so start early and track each stage on the portal.
Why is my PM Surya Ghar application stuck? PM Surya Ghar applications usually get stuck because of name mismatches across the electricity bill, bank account and ID, an inactive registered mobile number, missing installation records, inspection delays at the DISCOM, or bank account problems. Read the remarks on your dashboard, then contact your vendor or DISCOM depending on which stage is pending.
Can I get the PM Surya Ghar subsidy if my installer is not a registered vendor? No. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is paid only when a vendor registered with your DISCOM on the National Portal installs the rooftop solar system, and this cannot be fixed after installation. Check the vendor list on the portal before you sign. Origian Power is not a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor.
Where is the PM Surya Ghar subsidy amount credited? The PM Surya Ghar subsidy for residential rooftop solar is credited to the applicant's own bank account after the system is installed, inspected and commissioned and bank details are submitted on the portal. Make sure the account is in the applicant's name and that the details match your other records exactly.
What should I do if my PM Surya Ghar application is returned? If your PM Surya Ghar application shows returned or action required, read the remarks on your dashboard first. They usually point to an unclear document, a name mismatch or missing installation details. Correct and re-upload as instructed, or ask your registered vendor to fix anything that sits on their side.
